Chaired by HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Talal, the 19th Session of ACCD’s Board of Trustees was held
Ambassador Dr. Haifa Abu Ghazaleh joined the Board of Trustees’ membership, and an Institutional Support Agreement was signed between ACCD & AGFUND

Under the patronage and in the presence of HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, President of the Arab Council for Childhood and Development (ACCD), the 19th Session of ACCD’s Board of Trustees was held today, Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at the ACCD’s headquarters in Nasr City, Cairo.

The meeting of the 19th Session of the Board of Trustees was attended by its members, namely: Dr. Nasser Al-kahtani, Executive Director of the Arab Gulf Programme for Development (AGFUND) (Saudi Arabia), Dr. Hassan Al-Bilawi, the Secretary General of ACCD, Mr. Ghanem Bibi, Expert in Health and Education Development (Lebanon), and Dr. Ghada Gholam, former Officer in Charge of UNESCO Cairo Office and Senior Education Specialist (Lebanon), and Dr. Nahla Gahwaji, Dean of the Collage of Human Sciences and Design at King Abdulaziz University (Saudi Arabia). The meeting was also attended by H.E. Ambassador Dr. Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, Assistant Secretary General and Head of the Social Affairs Sector at the League of Arab States and H.E. Dr. Mahmoud Abu Al-Nasr, Director of the Arab Open University, Egypt Branch, and former Minister of Education.
 
During the meeting, the Board of Trustees has approved to add H.E. Ambassador Dr. Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, Assistant Secretary General and Head of the Social Affairs Sector at the League of Arab States, to the membership in the Board of Trustees.

ACCD’s achievements of the year 2022 were reviewed during the meeting, as well as the ACCD’s three-year Strategic Plan (2023-2025) was adopted, under the slogan of “The Empowerment of the Arab Child in the Era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and Global Developments”. This Plan reflects the ACCD’s response, intervention and action to address these developments that Arab children are exposed, in addition to the requirements of dealing with industrial revolutions to empower children with their skills to ward off their dangers and benefit from their opportunities.

The members of the Board of Trustees expressed their full thanks and appreciation to HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, for his highness active support and assistance to ACCD’s plans and programs that enabling ACCD to fulfil its role. They also praised the scientific and practical efforts undertaken by ACCD in the field of the development and upbringing of the Arab child.

The meeting ended by emphasizing the continuation of ACCD’s work journey through focusing on the current challenges, continuing in the digital transformation, investing in the technological progress for the benefit of the Arab child and expanding partnerships at the international, regional and national levels. The participants of the meeting also recommended the importance of working - within the framework of the ACCD’s plans and programs – on the issues of children in conflicts and how to reach them, as well as continuing to respond to current developments that have affected the upbringing of Arab children, by working with upbringing actors such as the family, school, media and civil society.

On the other hand, the meeting witnessed the signing of an Agreement entitled “Supporting the Institutional Structure of ACCD” between HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the President of AGFUND, and Dr. Hassan Al-Bilawi, the Secretary General of ACCD. The aim of this Agreement is to enable ACCD to continue achieving its goals that serve the Arab children.
