Expert Meeting of Media Observatory for Child Rights
ACCD, LAS and AGFUND has announced drafting a Manual
on correcting the language used in Arab media regarding child rights
In its headquarters in Cairo, ACCD has held an Expert Meeting of the Project of "Arab Media Observatory for Child Rights" on the 23rd of May 2017. This Project is implemented by ACCD in partnership with the League of Arab States (LAS) and the Arab Gulf Programme for Development (AGFUND) aiming to establish a mechanism to monitor, follow-up and analyze media content on child rights in order to rationalize the performance of Arab media regarding the issues of upbringing and child rights, in cooperation with media outlets and concerned developmental organizations.
The Meeting has been attended by more than 25 experts specialized in the fields of child rights, media, pedagogy and psychology, in addition to media figures and representatives of media outlets and partners organizations as LAS and AGFUND.
The Meeting has reviewed the implemented steps of this Project that ACCD has completed with its partners (LAS and AGFUND), which included conducting an Arab Study on addressing child rights issues in media, and preparing a Manual on the Professional Guidelines for Arab Media Addressing the Issues of Child Rights. Moreover, the participants of the Meeting have also discussed the future steps of the Project that will include drafting a Manual on correcting the language used in Arab media regarding child rights by ACCD, LAS and AGFUND.
