"From Crisis to Opportunity"
The Conference includes scientific sessions to review efforts, and experiences of eight regional and international organizations
On the occasion of World Children's Day, HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the President of the Arab Council for Childhood and Development (ACCD), will inaugurate tomorrow, Monday, November 16, 2020 a Webinar Conference entitled "Covid-19 Pandemic & Child Rights" under the Slogan "From Crisis to Opportunity".
This conference - held under the auspices of HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Talal Al Saud, comes as a continuation of the efforts of ACCD to shed light and discuss the impacts and repercussions of COVID-19 Pandemic on child rights at all levels, being the gravest humanitarian crisis. In addition, the Conference seeks for setting proposals and mechanisms to turn this crisis into an opportunity for solidarity and cooperation to build a post-Coronavirus world to be a more comprehensive and sustainable world in which we ensure the rights of children and guarantee their well-being.
In the context of ACCD's cooperation with the partners and highlighting the international and regional efforts in addressing COVID-19 pandemic impacts on children, Mr. Ted Chaiban, the UNICEF Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa, will deliver a speech in the Conference. Besides, there are some presentations by the World Health Organization (WHO), the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), the International Labor Organization (ILO), the Arab Gulf Programme for Development (AGFUND), the Arab Scout Organization, the Arab Network for Early Childhood Development, in addition to ACCD presentation on its efforts in this regard.
The Conference will also include scientific sessions that tackle the social and psychological impacts of COVID-19 pandemic on child rights in the Arab region, the education experience during the Pandemic and the role of civil society in facing these effects. This is in addition to discussing the technological possibilities in dealing with these impacts: challenges and opportunities.
More than 100 representatives of international and regional concerned organizations, the NGOs and relevant experts in different fields of child rights and media, will participate in the Webinar Conference that will be in both Arabic and English languages.
