Regional Session on the Impact of Climate Change on Child Labour in the Arab Region at the COP28 in Dubai
The Session recommends studying the impact of the Gaza war on the climate and its repercussions on children
Within the framework of the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) held in Dubai (UAE), the League of Arab States (LAS), the Arab Labour Organization (ALO), the Arab Gulf Programme for Development (AGFUND) and the Arab Council for Childhood and Development (ACCD) organized a Regional Session entitled “The Impact of Climate Change on Child Labour in the Arab Region”. The Regional Session was held on December 8, 2023, at the Pavilion of LAS in the Blue Zone in Expo City, the headquarters of COP28 in Dubai.
The Session aimed to shed light on the impact of climate change on the issue of child labour, as well as to provide a set of recommendations and interventions that enhance adaptation to climate change according to approaches consistent with the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
In addition, the Session discussed the suffering of Gaza Children who are exposed to killing and violence, a matter that violates all international conventions and laws concerned with human rights.
