The 6th Arab Civil Society Forum for Children

Launching the 6th Arab Civil Society Forum for Children under the auspices of HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Talal, H.E. Ahmed Aboul Gheit and H.E. Prof. Ahmed Zayed on the 13th of February under the slogan “The Empowerment of Arab Children for the Era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and Beyond”
 
Under the auspices of HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, President of the Arab Council for Childhood and Development (ACCD) and the Arab Gulf Programme for Development (AGFUND), H.E. Ambassador Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary General of the League of Arab States (LAS), and H.E. Prof. Ahmed Zayed, Director of, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA) the 6th Arab Civil Society Forum for Children (the Forum) will be held during the period from February 13 to 14, 2024 at the headquarters of the BA in Alexandria, Egypt. The Forum is organized by ACCD in partnership with LAS, AGFUND and BA under the slogan “The Empowerment of Arab Children for the Era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and Beyond”.

The Forum aims at disseminating and raising awareness of the importance of working on the empowerment of Arab children in the era of the fourth industrial revolution (4IR) and beyond with its opportunities and risks, in light of an integrated and interconnected conceptual structure, according to a new intellectual pattern that establishes an effective relationship between the child and the 4IR, within the framework of global awareness. The Forum also aims to discuss the status of the Arab civil society for childhood in light of the current changes. 
 
The Forum will witness several activities including the launch of the first Arab exploratory study on “The Readiness of Arab Children for the Era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and Beyond”, a discussion of the status of Arab civil society for childhood in light of the current developments, a dialogue session with children, and a presentation of experiences and initiatives in the fields of civil society and the 4IR. Around 250 participants, including experts and representatives of regional and international organizations and institutions concerned with children from various Arab countries, will participate in this Forum.
 
It is worth mentioning that the Forum is a periodic forum and a mechanism for building the capabilities of civil society organizations working in the field of childhood. The Forum is also considered to be a platform for learning, exchanging experiences and building partnerships.  The Forum adopts the approach of rights and development and it is based on the International Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), as well as other relevant Arab and international charters and conventions, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
