The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has thanked the Arab Council for Childhood and Development (ACCD) and HRH Prince Abdul Aziz Bin Talal, ACCD President, for ACCD's donation of US$ 50,000 (fifty thousand US dollars) to support the most needy children in the Arab region in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In its official account on "Twitter", the UNHCR said: "with the support of ACCD (@Arabccd) under the presidency of HRH Prince Abdul Aziz Bin Talal (@AAzizTalal) the UNHCR in Egypt (@UNHCREgypt) will be able to promote the submitted support for separated or displaced refugee children under COVID-19 pandemic".

It is worth mentioning that the category of refugees and displaced persons, including children, is one of the most vulnerable groups during the spread of COVID-19 pandemic. This is because they often have a limited income, in addition to the scarcity of resources available to support their prevention of the virus.

This donation confirms ACCD's keenness to integrate and join efforts to confront the human and developmental consequences of COVID-19 pandemic and to limit its negative effects on children in the Arab region. His Highness the President of ACCD has recently called on all organizations, institutions and associations concerned with the humanitarian affairs to support the marginalized, especially children and women, and the poorest groups that need all kinds of support during these difficult circumstances.
