By the end of 2016, we conclude the Strategy implemented by the Arab Council for Childhood and Development (ACCD) over the last three years (2014-2016) under the patronage of HRH Prince Talal Bin Abdul Aziz; with a view to introduce a new model for upbringing Arab children based on a rights approach, seeking to develop hope by enhancing children's awareness, awakening their inner self, releasing their energies and building their capacities. Today, we can say that ACCD, based on its vision and accumulated experience in its various scientific and intellectual tracks and with the support of the Arab Gulf Programme for Development (AGFUND), has adopted an integrated philosophical and educational Project that focuses on the principles of democracy, freedom and social justice, so as to achieve positive citizenship and to move towards the establishment of the knowledge society.
During 2016, ACCD worked on a set of studies that helped to build the theoretical, conceptual and methodological framework of the upbringing model and to develop a set of strategies and mechanisms that would create the favorable conditions and formulate the educational and societal policies in support of that model, in connection with the applications carried out by ACCD in the implementation of the components of its Strategy; i.e. the Rehabilitation and Integration of Children in Street Situations under the slogan "I Have Chosen Hope", the Media Observatory for Arab Child Rights, Early Childhood Development, the Integration of Children with Disabilities in Education and Society and the Rights-based Protection Policies.
Launching a new phase of work in its next Strategy (2017-2020), through which work on this new model in the field of upbringing shall continue, ACCD extends its sincere thanks and gratitude to HRH Prince Talal Bin Abdul Aziz, ACCD President, for his continued support for its undertakings. We also extend our thanks to the AGFUND, the strategic supporter of ACCD march, as well as to the members of the Board of Trustees and all the partners, experts and researchers who added a lot to ACCD and who are always supportive in its march of development.
